Randy Oostra, DM, FACHE
President and CEO, ProMedica
Randy Oostra is the president and chief executive officer of ProMedica, overseeing the not-for-profit mission-based, integrated health and well-being organization headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. Prior to this role, he served as president and chief operating officer.
Oostra is regarded as one of the nation’s top leaders in health care and has earned a spot on several prestigious listings, which include Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and Becker's Healthcare's 100 great Leaders in Healthcare. He has a strong commitment to the healthcare industry and community and serves on the board of trustees of the following national organizations: Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), American Hospital Association, Health Research and Educational Trust and The Root Cause Coalition, which ProMedica founded.
He serves on the board of trustees for his alma mater, Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and the following organizations in northwest Ohio: Regional Growth Partnership, Toledo Museum of Art, ConnecToledo Downtown Development Corporation, and the Toledo Symphony. Oostra is also a member of the Ohio and Michigan Hospital Associations and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Oostra holds a doctorate in management from Case Western Reserve University, a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in Management from the University of Wisconsin, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Northwestern College.
As recognition for his strong commitment and positive contributions to the community, Oostra was honored with the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He also was chosen by the Jefferson Awards Foundation to represent Toledo at the organization’s national ceremony in Washington D.C. Additionally, Oostra received the Ohio Hospital Association’s Donald R. Newkirk Award for making a significant lifetime contribution to the healthcare industry.
Kent Bishop, MD
Chief Medical Officer, ProMedica Physicians and Acute Care
President, Women’s Services, ProMedica
Kent Bishop is the inaugural chief experience officer for ProMedica and the chief medical officer for ProMedica Physcians and acute care. In these roles, Dr. Bishop leads ProMedica’s system-wide focus on the patient experience to ensure the delivery of exceptional and seamless patient-centric care to patients, families and others throughout all touchpoints. Dr. Bishop has been a member of ProMedica Physicians Group since 1994.
Dr. Bishop earned his medical degree at UTMC, formerly the Medical College of Ohio. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He specializes in robotic surgery.
President, ProMedica Physicians Group
Angela Brandt is the president of ProMedica Physicians Group. In this role, she manages the business operations, clinical operations, revenue cycle, and value-based initiatives for northwest Ohio’s largest employed provider group.
Brandt earned a Bachelor of Science in health care administration and holds an executive Master of Business Administration degree from Case Western Weatherhead School of Management.
Chief Integration Officer, Academic Affiliations, ProMedica
Holly Bristoll is chief integration officer for academic affiliations for ProMedica. Prior to her current role, Bristoll served as president of ProMedica Bay Park Hospital, ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital and executive director of the ProMedica Orthopaedic Institute. Bristoll has worked at ProMedica since 1991 in various capacities, including vice president of strategic development, director of marketing and corporate health, and manager of business health services.
Bristoll has a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan. She is a member of Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio and serves on the community advisory panel for Toledo Refining Company.
President, ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital
Doug Bush is the president of ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital. Prior to this appointment, Bush served as associate vice president of strategic planning and business development for ProMedica. Bush has also served as ProMedica’s administrative director of rehab services.
Bush is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and earned an Executive Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Toledo.
President, Regional Acute Care - Michigan, ProMedica

Darrin has a Master of Business Administration degree from Bowling Green State University and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Other positions Arquette has held at ProMedica include president of ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, vice president of operations at ProMedica Flower Hospital, vice president of operations at ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital and ProMedica Bay Park Hospital and manager of budgeting and planning for ProMedica Physicians.
ProMedica Bixby Hospital, ProMedica Herrick Hospital and ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. Prior to this appointment, Arquette was senior vice president of ProMedica’s neurosciences, heart and vascular services lines.
President, Metro Region Acute Care
President, ProMedica Toledo and Toledo Children's Hospitals
Dawn Buskey is president, ProMedica Toledo and Toledo Children's Hospitals and metro region acute care. She was formerly president, regional acute care - Michigan and president of ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Prior to these roles, Buskey was chief operating officer of ProMedica’s metro region hospitals – ProMedica Bay Park, Flower, Toledo and Toledo Children’s Hospitals. She has served in several key executive leadership roles including president of ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital and ProMedica Orthopaedic Institute, senior vice president of marketing and strategy, chief operating officer at ProMedica Physicians and vice president of physician services.
Buskey has a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus in health care from The University of Findlay and bachelor’s degree in public health from The University of Toledo. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Medical Group Management Association and the American Medical Group Association. Buskey serves on the board of the United Way of Greater Toledo.
Chief Philanthropy Officer, ProMedica
Gary Cates is chief philanthropy officer for ProMedica. He has held a number of leadership roles in acute and ambulatory care throughout ProMedica, most recently serving as president of ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital and ProMedica Transportation Network.
Cates has a Master of Business Administration in finance and international business degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Michigan State University. He is a founding member of the Defiance 2100 economic development committee. He is also a member of the State Bank Financial Group / State Bank Board of Directors and the United Way of Defiance County Executive Board. In 2013, Cates was appointed by Governor John Kasich to the Ohio Board of Emergency Services, Fire, and Transportation.
Chief Financial Officer, ProMedica
Steve Cavanaugh is chief financial officer, ProMedica. Prior to this role, he was president of HCR ManorCare, a divison of ProMedica. As chief financial officer, Cavanaugh is responsible for the overall financial leadership of ProMedica, including accounting, financial planning, revenue cycle, managed care, reimbursement, treasury and internal audit as well as supply chain management, process improvement and financing.
Cavanaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Toledo and a master’s degree in business administration with honors from the University of Michigan. He is a native of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Lee W. Hammerling, MD
Chief Academic Officer, ProMedica
President, New Ventures, ProMedica
Lee Hammerling is chief academic officer and president of New Ventures at ProMedica. Prior to this role, Dr. Hammerling was chief physician executive and chief medical officer for ProMedica. In that role, he provided executive oversight for the development and growth of ProMedica service lines, including heart, vascular, orthopaedics, oncology, neurosciences and behavioral health; population health strategies; an innovations division focused on the commercialization of newly patented and licensed ProMedica inventions; and ProMedica academic programs and affiliations.
Dr. Hammerling completed an executive program in health care management at The Ohio State University in 1997. He received his medical degree at The University of Chicago Medical Center and received his bachelor's degree from Notre Dame University.
Pam Jensen, FACHE
President, Regional Acute Care - Ohio and Support Services, ProMedica
Pam Jensen is president of regional acute care - Ohio and support services for ProMedica. She oversees ProMedica Defiance Regional, Memorial, and Fostoria Community Hospitals. Prior to serving in this role, Jensen was senior vice president of operations at ProMedica Flower Hospital and executive director of the ProMedica Cancer Institute. Jensen is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
President, Paramount Health Care, Inc.
Lori Johnston is president of Paramount Health Care, Inc. Prior to assuming this role, she was chief information officer at ProMedica. Other positions Johnston has held at ProMedica include president and chief administrative officer for ProMedica Physicians, chief financial officer/chief operating officer of ProMedica St. Luke’s Hospital, senior vice president of continuum services, and senior vice president of finance.
Johnston earned a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Toledo and a Master of Business Administration at The Ohio State University. She is active in the community serving on the boards of Toledo Mud Hens and Walleye sports teams, Compassion Health Toledo, St. Ursula Academy as well as the Advisory Council for the Area Office on Aging of Northwest Ohio.

Kathleen Krueger is President of ProMedica International, the business division for ProMedica that advances the internationalization of healthcare solutions on behalf of the organization. Kathleen heads up the international business development team, which focuses on the continued work as a premier international healthcare solution provider.
Capitalizing on her experience in the innovative solutions space prior to joining ProMedica,
Kathleen has spent several years understanding and advancing the internationalization efforts and business successes, with a primary focus on China and India.
Prior to this role with ProMedica, Kathleen has been in executive leadership responsible for the business divisions of Supply Chain, System Quality and Safety, and Process Improvement Engineering. She also serves as executive lead on several organizational community based initiatives for the economic advancement of the communities ProMedica serves in NW Ohio and SE Michigan.
Chief Legal Officer and President Indemnity, ProMedica
ProMedica Indemnity Corporation, President
Jeff Kuhn is chief legal officer and general counsel for ProMedica, and president of ProMedica Indemnity Corporation. He also serves as secretary of ProMedica and its subsidiary organizations and as a ProMedica Foundation trustee. Other poisitions Kuhn has held include associate general counsel for ProMedica from 1992 to 1998.
Kuhn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Bowling Green State University. He received his Juris Doctorate, graduating with honors from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University. He is currently a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, American Health Lawyers Association, and Society of Ohio Healthcare Attorneys.
Chief Information Officer, ProMedica
Murry Mercier is chief information officer for ProMedica. In this role, he focuses on the fundamentals and leveraging leading edge technology to redesign processes and apply automation to acheive strategic initiatives for the organization.
Murry has been a strategic information technology leader for the past 27 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Ohio State University.
President, HCR ManorCare
David Parker is president of HCR ManorCare, a divison of ProMedica. Prior to this appointment, Parker was chief operating officer for HCR ManorCare.
Parker has been with HCR ManorCare since 1995. Prior to joining HCR ManorCare, he worked as an administrator at nursing centers in Louisiana and Florida.
Parker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas.
Chief Advocacy and Government Relations Officer, ProMedica
Barbara Petee is the chief advocacy and government relations officer for ProMedica. With a specific emphasis on community relations and redevelopment, she is responsible for connecting organizations and agencies in collaborative work so that the mission of ProMedica — to ensure health and well-being for all citizens — is achieved.
In her government relations role, Petee works with lawmakers at the local, state, and federal level, to ensure ProMedica is consistently involved in helping to shape and provide input on key policy and legislative issues that affect the health system and the communities it serves.
Petee has held numerous roles during her tenure with the organization, most recently as chief communications and public affairs officer. She is a member of the Business Advisory Council for Toledo Public Schools, an advisor to the board of directors of the Toledo Area Humane Society, and a board member of the Alliance to End Hunger, an affiliate of Bread for the World, based in Washington D.C. Barbara is a graduate of Michigan State University with dual degrees in journalism and American literature.
Chief Operating Officer, ProMedica
Karen Strauss is chief operating officer, ProMedica. In this role, she is responsible for implementing the organization strategy and providing collaborative, enterprise-wide leadership with operational oversight of acute, ambulatory and provider care; post-acute and rehabilitation care; health and dental insurance; human resources; and marketing, public relations and communications.
Strauss holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
Chief Human Resources Officer, ProMedica
Les Thompson is the chief human resources office for ProMedica. In this role, he serves as a vital resource and strategic business partner to leadership on matters related to culture, workplace environment, diversity and inclusion, strategic human capital decision-making, organizational effectiveness, succession planning, and the installation of human resources practices, structures, and programs that enable peak individual and organizational performance.
Thompson has more than 20 years of professional experience in human resources, operations, and mergers and acquisitions strategy and execution.
Kevin Webb, PhD, FACHE
President, Provider, Acute and Ambulatory Care, ProMedica
Kevin Webb is president, provider, acute and ambulatory care for ProMedica. In this role, he works to increases collaboration and team work between the providers and thhe acute/ambulatory care areas, streamline operations, and delivers exceptional patient and customer experiences. Prior to his current role, he served as chief acute care officer at ProMedica and president of ProMedica Toledo and Toledo Children's Hospitals.
A trained audiologist, Dr. Webb is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, chair-elect of the Ohio Hospital Association Board of Trustees, and a member of the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association Board of Trustees, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio board, the Valentine Theatre board, and the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center board.

Robin Whitney is chief strategic planning, business development and real estate officer, for ProMedica, and also chief construction and property management officer for ProMedica.
Robin earned a Civil Engineering degree from the Univeristy of Toledo and an Executive Masters of Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.
Julie Yaroch, DO

President, ProMedica Herrick Hospital
Julie Yaroch is president of ProMedica Bixby and Herrick Hospitals. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Yaroch served as president of ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital. Other positions she's held include vice president of medical affairs at Defiance Regional, Bixby and Herrick Hospitals.
Dr. Yaroch is a board-certified internal medicine physician. She earned a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from University College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern in Illinois. Dr. Yaroch is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.
